“Why do you go to the gym?”
Maybe you’ve asked yourself that question, or maybe others have asked it of you… But have you ever thought about it?
Maybe it’s weight loss you are after. It could be performance. Maybe you are chasing strength.
I don’t have the answer, and you might not have it right now.
There is no right or wrong answer.
One thing that’s for sure is that many people find things they were never expecting to when they join Beyond Strength Performance NOVA, LLC…
Check out a couple things our members have recently had to say:
Supriya came to BSP NOVA in April of 2015 after training with Adam Levy at a UFC Gym in the area. Adam challenged her to constantly step out of her comfort zone and realize that she was truly capable of more than she could ever imagine.
Upon joining BSP NOVA, at the recommendation of Adam, Supriya found new and different challenges to overcome. Over the last 9 months she has developed incredible strength- from minimal experience with the barbell lifts to deadlifting 235+ pounds for reps, along with GREAT form to boot on the fundamental movements.
Her newest challenge is taking part in our brand new nutrition program. Part of that program involves phone conversations to discuss strengths, struggles, and pave a habit-forming way forward. These conversations are all about the member- BUT, our conversation last week blew my mind…
Supriya could not stop expressing to me how much BSP NOVA has impacted her.
My only regret is that I did not record the conversation. But, Supriya volunteered to follow up with an email about those experiences.
The last 9 months at BSP NOVA have transformed my life. I have always been an active person – but I have HATED big gyms and places where you are there to be seen and see. I am not the most coordinated person – but I have always known that my strengths are a willingness to meet challenges head on, and that I have endurance. BUT, in that, it is hard to find a space that doesn’t let preconceived notions about age, gender, body-type, or ability stand in the way of pushing someone to be better. I think Adam recognized that as well, which is what led me to you all, and that has made all the difference.Who I am today is not who I was 6 months ago and that is in part to the partnership between you four and myself. I think that the care put into each client, the attention to teaching, and the support (as well as laughter) working with Geoff, Kevin, and Jon as well as you and my attitude (which I think is very positive). It’s all an iterative cycle, right? You all make it fun and hard, I like to come, and so on and on… This has made me realize that I can do things I never thought possible, and that in time, I have made all this progress. I could never have predicted who I would become today six months ago, and that is OK with me. 🙂 We talked about this yesterday – those unrealistic expectations that you have for a gym in the short run – but truly – I have found that reflecting on the overall changes from the past 6 months – the only expectation I have is that every day I am building a better me.Thank you for this experience and so grateful to have found you all!– Supriya Baily
She truly has embraced the challenges head on… So much so that she is now talking about trying white water kayaking this summer!
Oh, and she’s dropped multiple sizes, has more energy, improved her nutrition, and all that other stuff you’re probably wondering about.
No doubt, the next year will be amazing to see where she goes and what she accomplishes… We are beyond excited and thankful to be a part of that process!
Michelle Samson came to us in November 2015, looking to increase her strength and conditioning for a goal of conquering hikes in all 50 states! Just yesterday she completely stepped out of her comfort zone and posted the following on Facebook:
Just like Supriya, Michelle is facing challenges head on.
She shows up consistently.
She has focused on the process, not wherever she is compared to where she wants to be.
And also, like Supriya, Michelle is transforming- both mentally and physically.
She has currently knocked 5 of the 50 off her list, and she just booked her trips to Seattle and Oregon!
We are PUMPED to be a part of the process!
We have lots of members like Michelle and Supriya. No two are the same, and no two are approached identically.
So, why are you going to the gym?
Maybe BSP NOVA can help…
