“Other gyms I’ve been to in the past don’t care what I do, as long as I’m paying my monthly fee. At BSP NOVA, I feel like I’m visiting my family when I walk in to workout.” -Danielle
Does this sound familiar to you?
You pull up to an empty parking spot, step out of your car, and walk into your local commercial gym.
You are greeted—hopefully—with a warm welcome and are shown around the gym. You see the locker rooms. You see the machines, free weights, and cardio areas. Next, they walk you over to the member services area.
When there, you are shown different membership options to choose from. And you decide on the option that sounds best. Woo! You joined a gym and are ready to start working on your goals!
…But now what?
Do you hop on a treadmill? Grab a dumbbell? Stretch? What’s your next step now that you belong to the gym?
Maybe you sign up for that free session with a personal trainer you were offered. Great! But, after that session, then what? You’re still left uncertain of what to do. That question keeps nagging you: what now?
Possibly, you keep showing up to the gym. Possibly, you don’t. Either way, the gym makes money. You’re just another member swept away in a sea of memberships.
If that sounds familiar to you, you’re not alone.
But you don’t have to feel overwhelmed and confused when setting foot in the gym. You don’t have to feel unnoticed and as if your goals don’t matter. Because your goals do matter. You matter.
Regardless of what your goal is—losing fat, getting stronger, living pain-free—that goal matters.
At BSP NOVA, we don’t want you to feel lost and uncertain, we want you to feel valued and understood, which is why we do things differently.
And it starts before you even step foot in the door.
The Certainty Session
This is about you. Your goals. Your fitness. Your life. A gym should take the time to understand you—what you want to achieve in and out of the gym, your health history, likes and dislikes with exercise—so they’re able to put you in the best position to be successful.
That’s why, before you ever touch a weight at Beyond Strength, we sit down to go over your goals, what you’d like to measure to track progress, sleep, nutrition, and more.
By starting out understanding where you want to go, we can help guide you there.
But that is not good enough. Stopping there would be a disservice to you.
Sure, this would still help, since you would be written a program based on your goals and the rest of the information gathered from this session, but it’s not enough.
What happens one week into training? One month? A year? What happens if your goal changes, or if you change jobs and your schedule is completely different? The program needs to change with you; it can’t stay the same. This is one reason why cookie cutter programs don’t cut it.
Programs should be individualized to you.
Because fitness isn’t one thing. Health isn’t one thing. Fat loss isn’t one thing. It’s always changing, just like your goals may change.
This is where our End of Phase and End of Block chats come in.
End Of Phase And End Of Block Chats
An End of Phase (EoP) chat can be thought of as a short-term goal setting session, usually 3-5 minutes in length, that is used to guide the next program (4-6 weeks of training) for a member. This occurs at the end of every program.
An End of Block (EoB) chat is a long-term goal setting session, usually 20-30 minutes in length, that sets up the next block (4-6 months of training) for a member. This occurs at the end of each block.
Since the EoB chats focus on the long-term, it helps us guide members to their bigger goals. And during that block, the EoP chats give them the opportunity to assess their goals, give feedback on the program, and make sure they’re continually heading in the direction they want.
This feedback is then directly applied to the following programs for each member so that we can guide them to whatever goals they want to achieve.
Simply put, these processes keep our members in the driver’s seat of their fitness journey. They can continually give feedback on how everything is going, and we use that input to create the next program for them.
Dee, a member of BSP NOVA, had this to say about the chats:
“It lets me communicate what I want and need. I can chat about what I liked and didn’t like about the program, as well as what new goals I may have come up with.”
And another, this time from Danielle:
“I think the chats at the end of the programs are beneficial for myself and the coach. The coaches know what I’m talking about when I say my goal is to be ‘a beast’ and they write the program to fit my needs and desires.”
Your Goals. Your Health. Your Life
The gym can feel like an overwhelming place at times, but it doesn’t have to. Your goals, whatever they may be, don’t have to be left up to chance; because there is a better way.
A gym’s job after all isn’t to simply have tons of members sign up; their job is to help those members succeed. Success for each person will be different. For some, it might be fat loss, but for others, it’s gaining strength and living pain-free.
Your goals matter. Which is why they should be kept top of mind and continually discussed and examined throughout your fitness journey.
So, if you’d like to check out BSP NOVA and experience what it’s like having a completely individualized fitness experience designed to help you reach your goals—not some random workouts that are made for 20-somethings who LOVE to work out for workouts sake—you can claim your free week on our home page, or at the bottom of this blog.
Your goals are uniquely yours—they matter and should be treated like they do. Because after all, this is about you. Your goals. Your health. Your life.
