Last month we covered how to kettlebell swing—starting from the plank, glute bridge, and deadlift, all the way to the swing. If you haven’t gotten those movements down yet, go back through the link above and practice before continuing to the single arm swing, clean, and double clean.
Now that you’re a swinger… 😉 …it’s time to take the foundational movement and build on it.
What do we mean by build on it?
Well, literally every other kettlebell ballistic—single arm swing, clean, and snatch—is simply a slight twist on a properly executed swing.
Single Arm Kettlebell Swing
First up, let’s look at the single arm swing. For starters, it’s a pretty simple transition from the 2-hand swing. But now that we’ve removed a hand from the bell, we’ve got a few things to cover.
Single Arm Kettlebell Clean
If you’re feeling REAL good with the single arm swing, we can progress on to the single arm clean. But before dive in, let’s talk about how to grip the kettlebell.
Remember when I said that the all of the other kettlebell ballistics are just a slight twist on a properly executed swing? Well, for the clean, I mean that quite literally.
Double Kettlebell Clean
Alright, feeling good with the single arm clean? I think you’ll find the double kettlebell clean a super quick learn…
Just like the kettlebell swing, these movements won’t be perfect overnight. Practice, practice, practice… and have fun!
