This past week kicked off our second annual March for Gold Spring Fitness Challenge!

… and a magical thing happens for many-a-member throughout this challenge:

They go from struggling to get to the gym 2-3 times per week on a consistent basis, to crushing upwards of 4-6 sessions every week for the entire month.

Some would say they just needed to be held accountable, but I’m hear to tell you it’s something much simpler than that:

They’re benefiting from having created a clear and compelling vision of the future, they’ve defined process goal(s)—more to come on that in a second—and they genuinely believe they can knock this out of the park.

It’s not accountability, rather:

  • They know what they want: to win gold, silver, or bronze in March for Gold
  • They created (at least) a process goal to bring their vision to life: A process goal involves clearly stating what you aim TO DO. 
    • For example: I will attend _______ number of Small Group Personal Training sessions and _______ number of Metabolic Conditioning classes between March 2nd – March 31st, 2020.
    • even better if they define the days and times well in advance vs. scheduling it in last minute
  • They believe they can do it: Their confidence in accomplishing their vision/goal(s) is an 8-9 on a scale of 1-10.  In other words, there’s enough of a challenge to keep them engaged, yet the challenge doesn’t overwhelm their current capabilities.

 

And today I want to share a little secret…

 

YOU DON’T NEED A FITNESS CHALLENGE TO USE THESE SAME SUCCESS TOOLS IN YOUR LIFE.

March for Gold leads to some awesome results due to the fact that it’s within the frame of what most people can envision, makes it easy to set a process goal to accomplish said vision, and has built in levels that make it possible for most anyone to set a goal that doesn’t overwhelm them.

If you have a goal that you’ve been struggling to tackle for a while now, I challenge you (see what I did there) to run it through the variables above.  You likely just need to be a little clearer about the what and why (vision), and/or the effective actions (process goals), and/or break it down to something you’re at an 8-9 confidence level with.
