My wife likes to talk when we get in bed…
Problem is, I’m usually asleep within minutes of my head hitting the pillow.
She even accuses me of “acting” like I’m asleep!
“Oh stop, it’s not possible to fall asleep that fast!“, she’ll say…
But I really do.

It wasn’t always this way though.
I spent a good chunk of 2017 working on improving my sleep habits…
Yes, the same year our daughter was born, which is why everyone said my efforts were going to be a lost cause.
Safe to say, they were wrong…
And while there are lots of things I tried, one of the simplest things that worked, IMMEDIATELY, was the addition of brain dumps (#8 on our sleep tips).
As part of my nightly routine I sit down and quickly write out everything that’s on my mind…
- things that need done
- things I want to do
- ideas
- anything going through the ol’ cranium
You’d be amazed how simply getting all of the crap out of your head will calm the mind and make it easier to fall asleep.
Sure, you could take it a step further and prioritize things and plan your next day, just the morning even, for an even greater return.
But if all you do is take the things that would otherwise run through your mind as you try to fall asleep and put them on paper, you’ll find that you fall asleep faster…
much to the chagrin of your partner. 😉
